This link gives a bit of history about Banania tins:
A Banania advert:
A report on the Banania controversy:
In 2005, the Banania company, which makes powdered cocoa, was accused of making use of a racist stereotype in its advertising: its logo is a caricatured Senegalese rifleman with the catchphrase "y a bon!" ("tasty!" in pidgin French). As a result, the message was removed from the Banania packaging.
The company's advertising dated from the colonial period, so I suppose it was about time it changed its communication strategy; it's just a bit of a shame from an aesthetic point of view: the Banania tins have become collectors' items because the Senegalese rifleman is truely iconic and because that yellow is just... delicious!
